Unlike traditional methods, Safe Pierce 4U stands out with its patented system that ensures safety and comfort. Before you dive into piercing, it's critical to understand why sterility and precision are the cornerstones of a successful DIY ear piercing.
Firstly, cleanliness cannot be overstated. An unsterile environment or tools can lead to infections that not only delay healing but can also cause long-term issues. Safe Pierce 4U addresses this by providing pre-sterilized equipment, ensuring that you're starting off on the right foot.
Secondly, precision matters. A piercing that's off the mark can result in an uneven look, and worse, can damage tissue and cause unnecessary pain. Safe Pierce 4U's system is designed to help you place the piercing accurately every single time.
Setting up your space and organizing your tools is the first step to a successful piercing experience. Let's get everything ready.
Make sure you have your Safe Pierce 4U kit, a mirror, good lighting, and a clean workspace. It's also wise to wash your hands thoroughly before you start and to wear the gloves provided.
Next, you'll want to prepare the ear. Clean the earlobe with our antiseptic wipes to remove any bacteria. Remember, the cleaner the area, the safer your piercing will be.
With your area prepped and your tools at the ready, it's time to move on to the main event. Piercing your ears really doesn't have to be daunting. Follow these steps, and you'll be sporting new earrings in no time.
Before you pierce, thoroughly wash your hands, and wear the provided latex gloves.
Before you pierce, you need to mark the exact spot on the earlobe. Take our skin-friendly gentian violet marker to carefully mark where you want the piercing to go. Stand in front of the mirror and ensure the marks are even on both sides. It's a good idea to do this step with a friend or a family member to help you ensure the placement is just right. If you are not happy with your mark, then simply wipe off the mark with the provided wipe and repeat the process.
Even once you are happy with the piercing location, a good tip is to gently wipe the ear again prior to piercing, as this will not completely remove the mark but will help fade the ink dot which helps to increase piercing accuracy.
Now, take the Safe Pierce 4U device and follow the instructions closely.
Tear back the sterile seal and remove one of the devices.
With the piercing point facing forwards, take a comfortable and secure grip of the device (DO NOT SQUEEZE YET), then bring it up toward the ear and hold still. When the device and piercing point are approximately in line with the desired piercing location, STILL without depressing, gently draw the entire device slightly towards you, so the front end of the device, which holds the earring hat back, is now sitting behind the ear, up against the back of the ear. It is good to let this part of the device rest against the back of the ear, as this helps provide a stability ‘anchor’ for the piercing process. Be sure to maintain this position for the piercing.
It often helps to also hold the ear with your other hand for added support.
Then, you can slowly depress the back end of the device a small amount, you will see this starts to slide the piercing track and stud towards the ear, allowing you to precisely line up the ultra-sharp point very close to the desired mark.
Once you are satisfied you have a comfortable position and grip, be sure the device and the piercing point are nicely lined up, then envisage the path/angle through the ear that you are about to pierce. Imagine in future you might be wearing hoop earrings, of course you will want them to hang straight and not be at an angle, so imagine the line of the stud running through the ear and then running parallel alongside the top part of your neck moving towards the back of the head in a straight line.
Then calmly but confidently, with a firm and committed amount of pressure, fully commit to the piercing until the device is fully depressed (note- whilst all the time remembering your grip should have focus to keep the front part of the device, containing the hat back, up against the back of the ear for stability and precision).
This depression will release the patented automatic delivery, and the piercing stud will glide through the dot you have made at the angle you have aligned to successfully pierce the ear, then count to 3 before slowly releasing the depressed device for it to open up as it was pre the piercing.
Finally, gently lower the device away from the newly pierced ear. Note that two pieces of plastic stud alignment housing should have fallen away after releasing the piercing stud, and these are to be disposed of along with the device after piercing.
Once the piercing is done, make every effort to not touch the hat back or the earring too much, especially with bare hands, as this can introduce bacteria to the fresh piercing.
The Safe Pierce 4U's system is designed to place the earring without the need for direct contact with your hands, which helps to maintain the sterility of the process.
However, whilst still wearing the gloves, immediately after administering the piercing, you may wish to manually twist or manipulate the stud into place, for example if the head of the stud needs slightly depressing so it is not protruding from the front of the lobe which can happen in some piercings, as everyone has different lobes.
Aftercare is just as important as the piercing process itself. Proper care ensures that your new piercings heal beautifully and remain infection-free.
Keep the area around your new piercings clean by gently washing with a saline solution or ideally the Safe Skin Ezy-Care Aftercare Solution. Do this at least twice a day. Avoid using alcohol or hydrogen peroxide as these can be too harsh and dry out the skin.
It's also important to rotate the earrings a few times daily to prevent them from sticking to the skin as the piercing heals.
However, ensure your hands are ALWAYS clean before you touch your ears during the healing process.
Remember, healing takes time. Although the average ear can heal in approx 18-20 days, earlobe piercings can take up to 6-8 weeks to heal, while cartilage piercings might take longer, 10-12 weeks.
During this time, maintain your cleaning routine and be mindful of any signs of irritation, we recommend administering aftercare solution for the full 6- 8 weeks after a lobe piercing, and for 10-12 weeks for cartilage piercings.
If you notice any redness, swelling, pain, or discharge, these might be signs of an infection. Don't panic, mild infections can often be managed at home with continued aftercare. However, if symptoms persist or worsen, it's important to seek advice from a healthcare professional. They can prescribe appropriate treatment and ensure your piercing heals properly.
Once your piercings have healed, the fun part begins - choosing your jewellery! Safe Pierce 4U offers a variety of stylish and safe options for your newly pierced ears.
Your first earrings should be made of hypoallergenic materials, like the ones included in your Safe Pierce 4U kit. These are designed to be gentle on your ears and reduce the risk of allergic reactions. You'll find an array of designs to suit your style, from simple studs to more decorative options.
It's crucial to wait until your piercings are fully healed before changing your earrings. Once you've reached the 6–8-week mark for earlobes, 10-12 weeks for cartilage, and there's no soreness or discharge, you can consider switching to new earrings. Always handle your earrings with clean hands and be sure to gently insert the new pair to avoid irritating the piercing as there may still be sensitivity.
Safe Pierce 4U is a great option for anyone looking to pierce their ears at home. Be it for yourself or with friends or just the experience, or for faith or cultural reasons, or simply for health or disability reasons, or even you just don’t like other people touching you, there really are many candidates preferring an at home piercing experience.
This system is suitable for a wide range of ages and skin types. However, if you have particularly sensitive skin or are prone to allergies, you might want to consult with a dermatologist before using any piercing kit. For children and teens, parental guidance and approval are essential.
If you're uncomfortable with the idea of piercing your own ears or if you're considering more complex piercings (like cartilage piercings), it might be best to visit a professional. A professional piercer can offer expertise and handle any unexpected situations that might arise during the piercing process.
